About the channel

Urdu, made simple.

"Most Urdu courses assume you already know how the language thinks. I built UrduCraft for the curious beginner who has zero background and wants to actually speak, not just memorise."

Syeda
Founder & Teacher

I was born in Islamabad and have spent most of my life in the UK. For the past six years, I've been teaching Urdu privately to British students: heritage learners, complete beginners, pre-wedding learners, and everyone in between.

My approach has always been simple: teach real language for real situations. No textbook overwhelm. No rote memorisation of grammar rules you'll never use. Just the words, phrases, and confidence you need to actually speak.

I started UrduCraft because I believe Urdu deserves to be taught properly, with the cultural depth and the warmth it carries. If you've ever felt like Urdu was just out of reach, I'm here to change that.

Common questions

Everything you need to know.

Not at all. Most of my students come with zero Urdu. Some can't even say salaam. I start from scratch and build up at your pace. If you already have some Urdu, I'll meet you where you are.
Most students can hold a simple conversation within 8 to 10 lessons. It depends on how much you practise between sessions, but I give you exercises to keep momentum going.
All lessons take place via Zoom. You just need a working camera, a microphone, and a reliable internet connection. I send the meeting link before each session.
Yes. I have experience teaching children from age 8 upwards. Lessons for younger learners are more activity-based and interactive, and I tailor the pace to keep things engaging.
Life happens. I ask for 48 hours notice to cancel a session. For rescheduling, I try to be flexible even with less than 48 hours notice wherever I can.
No rigid textbooks. I create a personalised plan for each student based on their goals, whether that's speaking with family, travelling to Pakistan, or learning to read the script. Your goals lead the lessons.
