📖 In English

After teaching Urdu for years, I see the same habit hold people back again and again. It is not a grammar problem. It is the fear of making mistakes.

Most beginners wait. They wait until they "know enough" before they speak. They rehearse a sentence in their head, worry it is wrong, and let the moment pass in silence. The intention is good, but the result is that they never actually practise the one skill they want: speaking.

Why this holds you back

A language is a skill, like riding a bike. You cannot learn it only by reading about it. You learn by wobbling, falling, and trying again. Every mistake you make out loud is feedback that teaches your brain faster than any silent study session ever could.

The simple shift

Give yourself permission to be wrong. Aim to make mistakes, not to avoid them. When you do not know a word, say the part you do know and fill the gap with English. Native speakers will help you, and they will be delighted that you tried at all.

A phrase that frees you

Learn this and use it without shame: mujhe samajh nahin aaya, "I did not understand." It turns a moment of panic into a moment of learning. People slow down, repeat, and the conversation keeps going.

The learners who improve fastest are not the most talented. They are the ones who are willing to sound silly for a few weeks on the way to sounding fluent.

🗣️ Roman Urdu mein

Saalon Urdu parhaanay kay baad, main yehi aik aadat baar baar logon ko rokte huay dekhti hoo'n. Yeh grammar ka masla nahin. Yeh galti karnay ka darr hay.

Zyaada tar beginners intezaar kartay hain. Woh tab tak intezaar kartay hain jab tak unhein lage kay woh "kaafi jaantay hain." Woh apnay zehan mein jumla tayaar kartay hain, fikar kartay hain kay galat hay, aur lamha khaamoshi mein guzar jaata hay. Niyat achchi hay, lekin nateeja yeh kay woh kabhi us aik hunar ki practice hi nahin kartay jo woh chahtay hain: bolna.

Yeh aap ko kyun rokta hay

Zabaan aik hunar hay, cycle chalaanay ki tarah. Aap isay sirf parh kar nahin seekh saktay. Aap dagmagaa kar, gir kar, aur dobaara koshish kar kay seekhtay hain. Har galti jo aap buland aawaaz mein kartay hain woh feedback hay jo aap kay dimaagh ko kisi bhi khaamosh study session se tez sikhaati hay.

Saada tabdeeli

Log aahista hotay hain, dohraatay hain, aur guftagu chalti rehti hay.

Jo learners sab se tezi se behtar hotay hain woh sab se zyaada baa salaahiyat nahin hotay. Woh wohi hotay hain jo ravaani tak pahunchnay kay raaste mein chand hafton kay liye thora ajeeb lagnay kay liye tayaar hotay hain.

A safe place to make mistakes.
